Reshaping the Broken Image of Political Parties in Southeast Europe, 2006

The overall objective of the project was to organize a conference at which to define on comparative basis the main problems and challenges facing the internal functioning of political parties in the region

 

The overall objective of the project was to organize a conference at which to define on comparative basis the main problems and challenges facing the internal functioning of political parties in the region. The project emphasized on internal party democracy and tried to propose practical and normative solutions enhancing transparency in the activities of political parties, better communication between them and civil society, and the improvement of organizational capacities of political parties in the region. The purpose of the project was to create a better understanding of democracy within political parties in the Balkans, which is a major prerequisite for enhancing democratic political culture in the region. The major task of the conference organized under the project was to set norms and standards for internal party democracy, measuring parties against these standards, and making these results public.

The conference on Reshaping the Broken Image of Political Parties in Southeast Europe, organized by the Bulgarian School of Politics (BSoP) in partnership with the Institute for Political and Legal Studies (IPLS) and with the kind support of the US Embassy Democracy Commission, was held in Central Park Hotel, Sofia, on 24 – 26 November 2006. The final result of the conference was the publication of a book compiling the findings and conclusions of the analysts and experts from the countries below who participated in the conference and delivered theoretical reports.
The aim of the conference was to bring together experts and politicians from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, and Kosovo to discuss various issues concerning political parties and their performance in the political systems of their respective countries.

The Regional Program, Season 2009-2010, Is Now Over

The concluding seminar within the Regional Program of the Bulgarian School of Politics took place between June 17-21 2010 in Sofia, Bulgaria, marking the completion of this year’s Regional Program activities. Participants from 8 Balkan countries convened for the third time this season, to discuss prospects for Balkan cooperation in designing and implementing youth policies.

Bulgarian Members of Parliament Planted Coniferous Trees

The MPs of the 41st Bulgarian National Assembly planted 240 coniferous trees near Terminal 2 of the Sofia Airport on June 4-th. Each MP received a tree with their own name and a map where to plant it. The forestation started at 10:30 and continued until all 240 trees were planted. The initiative was part of the “green week” organized in all member states of the European Union.

Successful competion of the 4th Course in our National Program 2010

The Fourth Course of our National Program 2010, entitled "Bulgaria in the Agenda of the European Union" was held between 26 and 30 May in Hotel Riu, Pravetz. The course introduced the core policies and elements of EU`s functioning and paid specific attention on the role of Bulgaria in their development and execution.

Charity Evening for the care home in Velingrad

In support of the care home for children in Velingrad, the Bulgarian School of Politics organized a Charity Evening, which was held on May 27th in Hotel Riu in Pravetz. While having a good time, the participants of our National Program 2010 and the Alumni of 2008 held a charity auction and managed to colled over 5200 Leva.
