Judicial Reform – Steps for Effective Legal Framework

The need for judicial reform was a focus of the fourth day of the National Program course. Special lecturers were the Ms. Miroslava Todorova, Chairperson of the Bulgarian Judges Association and Mr. Sava Petrov from the Association of Prosecutors in Bulgaria, as well as Mr. Hristo Ivanov, program manager of the Bulgarian Institute for Legal Initiatives. They presented different proposals for amendments in the Judiciary System Act. As a case study the program participants discussed the idea of ​​direct elections for magistrates.

In the afternoon School`s Alumni presented their activities with children from care institutions in Velingrad, Vidrare and Stara Zagora under a project funded through the Bonita Trust, as well as the activities of the atelier for children “Embrace me”, Sofia.

Another focus of the program was the topic “State Protocol – worldwide and in Bulgaria”. It was presented by Boriana Simeonova, State protocol Director at the Council of Ministers who has worked with four prime ministers.
