Piotr Svitalski: “Bulgarian School of Politics is a leader in the European Association of the Schools of Political Studies of the Council of Europe”

“The Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” is a strong and reliable organisation. It is very active on national and international level”, said His Excellency Mr. Piotr Switalski, the Director of the Policy Planning Directorate at the Council of Europe, to the participants in the National Programme “Governing skills”. He was a special guest-speaker at the panel “30 minutes with …” His presentation was focused on the future of Europe after the crisis. Mr. Switalski headlined the need for deeper integration of the European Union.

The focus of the second day of the seminar was the crisis in the EU and its effects. A lecture about the financial and economic crisis in the Euro zone was delivered by Mr. Eckhard Wurzel, the head of the EU / Euro Department at the OECD, and the economist Mr. Georgi Ganev. Then the political scientist Mr. Daniel Smilov talked about the Separatism in Europe and if it is a temporary or a permanent trend. The first session for the day was on the topic “European policy making – principles of good governance” and was delivered by Ms. Ingrig Shikova, who is a lecturer in Political Studies at the Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”.

The work on updating the web tool “Glasovoditel” for the upcoming parliamentary elections and the long list of parties’ statements were presented to the participants. Some of the statements will be included in the tool. The project is implemented by the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” in partnership with the Center for Liberal Strategies and is funded by the Trust for Civil Society in Central and Eastern Europe.
