Yousef Laraaj: “Bulgaria and Morocco can work together for improving citizen participation”

The Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” and the Civil School for Political Studies in Morocco should exchange experience in order to work for democratization and to involve more people in civil society”. This is what the director of the Moroccan School of Politics, Yousef Laraaj said, who was a special guest in the rubric “30 minutes in the company of…”. In his presentation, Mr. Laraaj outlined the main challenges ahead of his country. He also answered a number of questions regarding the place of women in civil participation, the monarch’s role in Morocco, the main statements in the new constitution and he also mentioned the EU- Morocco relations.

Accent during the whole day of the program was the topic of Europe and civil participation.  European affairs lecturer Dr. Ingrid Shikova explained the political processes in Europe and the interrelations between the institutions in the Union.  Vladimir Shopov, who is the director of the Institute for European Strategies and Policies, talked about the future of European federalization.  The head of European Citizen Action Service – Mrs. Assya Kavrukova also took part in the program – she presented numerous effective instruments for civil control of the European institutions.
