The Glasovoditel online tool for the European Parliament elections 2014 was launched on 29 April. It was announced at a special event, organized by the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” and the Centre for Liberal Strategies.
Glasovoditel is an interactive online tool, which allows voters to compare their political preferences with questions and statements taken from election documents of the main political parties contesting the European Parliament elections 2014. The tool has been released for forth time and its goal is to rationalize citizens’ voting and to help them consider how a certain policy would influence their lives.
Besides Bulgaria, Glasovoditel for the forthcoming European Parliament elections is being done in another 14 European countries, among which the Netherlands, Germany, Great Britain, Austria, Italy, Spain, Poland, etc. There are 26 statements in total in the tool, of which 17 are common for all participating countries and 9 are specific to Bulgaria. This gives the opportunity people, who do the test, to see which party families in the other European countries defend policies that are closer to their own preferences.
Glasovoditel online tool for the European Parliament elections 2014 is part of the project “More citizen participation and more reason in elections: online tools and public debates for engaging citizens with National and European elections in Bulgaria”, implemented by the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” and the Centre for Liberal Strategies, with the financial support of the Trust for Civil Society for CEE.
