The main objective of the project “Gather strength and say STOP to violence” is to support the process of prevention, easier recognition and support for victims of domestic violence in the Kremikovtsi district.
Its specific objectives are:
• Creating and building capacity in women leaders (municipal administration, teachers, doctors, police officers, business representatives, cultural figures) from the Kremikovtsi district for prevention, recognition, adequate communication and response to the needs of victims of domestic violence and their families.
• Supporting the active inclusion of women leaders in the process of prevention and response to domestic violence.
• Supporting and encouraging intersectoral cooperation between the main stakeholders in the process of prevention and response to domestic violence in the Kremikovtsi district.
• Raising awareness about the problem, its consequences and the provision of support in the Kremikovtsi district.
The project includes activities systematically aimed at solving the problem, such as:
1. Collection of qualitative data
A needs analysis will help to determine the training needs of the target group. Instead of assuming that all women need training or even the same training, the project team will make an informed decision on the best ways to address the differences in competence between individual representatives of the target group.
2. Preparation and implementation of trainings for 60 women leaders from the Kremikovtsi district
2 two-day trainings with 30 participants each will be organized and conducted. The first part of them will focus on knowledge and skills for prevention, recognition and intervention of domestic violence. The second part will focus on the response to domestic violence and its proper communication.
3. Improving public awareness
According to researchers of the processes of the photographic message, the images from the photos are not reality, but are perceived as its perfect analogue. Therefore, the photographic image is a message without a code and is a continuous message. In order to be brought into the focus of public attention in the Kremikovtzi region and to gradually reduce and overcome it, the problem of domestic violence will be visualized.
The project “Gather strength and say STOP to violence” is implemented with the financial support of the Sofia Municipality – Europe 2025 Program by the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza”, in partnership with the Kremikovtzi district and the “Mihail Gelev 1926” Community Center, Chelopechene.
