Truth versus lies – this was the leading issue of the three-day training for political and civic leaders, experts from municipalities, cultural institutions, teachers and journalists from Shumen district. The topics: weapons in the war against fake news, the role of artificial intelligence in rewriting reality and the ways in which we can counteract it.
The forum, organized by the Bulgarian School of Politics as part of the initiative “3D – digitalization, disinformation, democracy”, was held in Targovishte. Among the lecturers were well-known journalists and experts: Katerina Petrova – editor-in-chief of the Bulgarian National Radio-Shumen; Maya Dimitrova – author of the documentary movie “Architects of Chaos”; Prof. Ralitsa Kovacheva from Sofia University; journalist Georgi Marchev from HowToKnow – media skills training; as well as artificial intelligence expert Stanislav Atanasov.
The participants examined case studies, participated in discussions and analyzed the information environment. They received valuable tools for recognizing and countering disinformation, based on the conclusions of the Analysis of the Information Environment in Shumen district.
The training from November 21 to 23 in Targovishte is part of the initiative “3D – Digitalization, Disinformation, Democracy”, which is implemented by Bulgarian School of Politics and „Educational Horizons“ Foundation – Shumen. It is implemented within the framework of the „Rights and Values“ project and is funded by the European Union and the Workshop for Civic Initiatives Foundation.
