On 12 August 2026, an information meeting was held at the “Elin Pelin” Community Centre – 1926 in Busmantsi as part of the project “Together for Iskar District: Participation, Dialogue and Solutions”. It is implemented by the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” with the financial support of Sofia Municipality – Europe 2026 Program, in partnership with Iskar District and the “Elin Pelin” Community Centre – 1926, Busmantsi.
The event was attended by Tsveta Tocheva, Deputy Mayor of Iskar District, who expressed the support of the district administration for the initiative. She emphasised the importance of partnership between local authorities, civil society organisations and residents in promoting active civic participation and fostering sustainable dialogue on issues of importance to the local community.
During the event, the project’s main objectives, upcoming activities and expected results were presented, along with opportunities for citizens to actively participate in its implementation. Participants had the opportunity to learn more about the initiatives aimed at promoting civic engagement, strengthening dialogue between local authorities, civil society organisations and residents of Iskar District, and creating more effective mechanisms for participation in local decision-making processes.
The event marked the beginning of a series of initiatives that will create space for open discussion of issues of importance to the local community and encourage citizens to take an active role in public life.
