Prof. Denkov to the trainees of the BSoP: Public consensus is needed to implement national priorities

It is necessary to reach a public consensus on the implementation of national priorities to make sure that our country is moving in the right direction. In recent years, reverse processes have been observed in Bulgaria, as a result of which these priorities are not undisputed. Therefore, we need to reaffirm them every day – with the legislative and governance agenda, with international treaties, with the long-term vision of where we would like to see Bulgaria in time.

With these messages Prof. Nikolay Denkov addressed the political and civic leaders of the current class of the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” (BSoP).

The Prime Minister was a guest lecturer at the third course of the National Program, which was held from 2 to 5 July in Borovets.

“The change in public relations is crucial for the implementation of reforms important for Bulgaria’s development. Otherwise, the proposals that will help solve the problems could be blocked at the very beginning,” the Prime Minister said. He gave concrete examples of problems accumulated over time in the education and health systems, as well as in the green transition.  The Prime Minister’s presentation was followed by a discussion with the Class of 2023.

The third course of the National Program 2023 was dedicated to national priorities and solutions. During the course, the participants in the program met with the BNB Vice Governor – Nina Stoyanova. They also listened to lectures on the national budget as an instrument for prioritizing policies and on the challenges facing Bulgaria’s energy sector. “Cyber risks on the Bulgaria 2030 path” and “Bulgaria’s candidacy for OECD membership as a national goal and driver for reforms” were also among the topics of the course.

Fascinating and emotional for the participants was the panel with “Panorama” host Boyko Vassilev. After his lecture the trainees prepared in groups and made a simulation of a TV debate on the topic “For or against changing the Electoral Code”.

The third course of the National Program “Governing Skills” ended with a lecture and an exercise on a successful political campaign.

The special guest for this course was Natanail Stefanov – Vice-Chairman of the Board of Sofia Tech Park, who graduated from BSoP in 2020.
