BSoP held a round table as a final event of the “Counterpropaganda close to you” initiative

BSoP held a round table on the topic “Disinformation and fake news – a threat to the EU” on December 12 at the hall of the American Center at the Metropolitan Library. This was the final event of the initiative “Counterpropaganda close to you” – improving the capacity of local media and local news sites to tackle disinformation and fake news”.

At the beginning of the round table, Prof. Ivan Nachev presented the results of the initiative implemented by the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza”. Subsequently, Prof. Dimitar Vatsov – philosopher and lecturer at New Bulgarian University, editor-in-chief of the journal “Criticism and Humanism”, and Prof. Tatiana Burudzhieva – political scientist and lecturer at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” discussed with the audience the disinformation and manipulations during European and national elections, the values ​​of the European Union (EU) and the responsibility of journalists. Political and civil leaders, university professors, media experts, journalists, students and representatives of the alumni community of the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza” took part in the round table.

The initiative “Counterpropaganda close to you” – improving the capacity of local media and local news sites to tackle disinformation and fake news” is implemented within the framework of the “ProEUvaluesBG ” project and is funded by the European Union and the “Open Society Institute – Sofia” foundation ” (OSI – Sofia).
