An impactful photo exhibition “Let’s Stop the Silence” which visualizes the different forms of domestic violence and aims to provoke public attention, empathy and active conversation on the topic was opened at “Svetlina Kremikovtsi – 1906” Community Center.
The initiative is part of the “Gather Strength and Say STOP to Violence” project, aimed at preventing domestic violence and increasing public sensitivity to the problem in the Kremikovtsi district. Through the power of photography, the exhibition presents emotionally impactful images that show the real dimensions of violence – physical, mental, economic, emotional, digital and others.
The photographs are the result of the joint work of a professional makeup artist and photographer, who, with the participation of models from the local community, recreate realistic scenes, depriving violence of its abstractness and showing its human face.
From the selected footage, 20 thematic banners and information leaflets have been made, which are already on display at Svetlina Kremikovtsi – 1906″ Community Center. In addition to them, the project also includes additional photographs that are not part of the exhibition, but are collected in a special photo album, documenting the entire creative process and expanding the visual narrative of the topic.
The visual materials will also be presented in other public institutions such as schools, community centers and administrative buildings in the area, in order to reach the widest possible circle of people.
The goal of the campaign is not only to attract the attention of society, but also to provoke a constant dialogue – what violence is, why it should not be accepted as normal and where victims can seek support and protection.
Visitors to the exhibition can receive information materials with useful contacts and resources for people who have experienced violence, as well as for their loved ones.
The photo album with all the photographs can be seen here.
The project “Gather strength and say STOP to violence” is implemented with the financial support of the Sofia Municipality – Europe 2025 Program, by the Bulgarian School of Politics “Dimitry Panitza”, in partnership with the Municipality of Kremikovtsi and the “Mihail Gelev 1926” Community Center – Chelopechene.
